From hiking shoe to climbing shoe

The Wildfire Edge is a flexible technical approach shoe that can be quickly and easily converted from a hiking shoe to a climbing shoe. The Salewa Switchfit system was developed and extensively tested together with mountain guides and professional climbers from the Dolomites - it's so simple and clever. When you thread the laces through the additional eyelet and tighten them, your foot is pulled forward like a climbing shoe. The result: toe-climbing and friction climbing become easier and safety on technical terrain is improved. Switching back to a hiking boot is as simple as loosening the laces. This widens the toe cap and offers greater comfort when hiking.

GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort

Under the highly abrasion-resistant upper material (suede and microfiber) is the thin, extremely breathable GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort membrane, which ensures maximum comfort in a wide range of weather conditions. Your feet stay dry in wet weather, but if you start to sweat during intense movement, the moisture that builds up can still escape.

Climbing precision

To improve precision when climbing, the Wildfire Edge is also equipped with an Edging Plate, an insole plate under the forefoot that additionally stiffens this important area when climbing. The rest of the insole remains flexible to ensure a high level of comfort and a natural rolling motion.

Good grip

The Pomoca Speed MTN sole is made of a rubber compound with particularly good grip for high friction on slabs and other smooth rock structures. The outsole design offers a good balance between grip and traction and the special lug profile has proven itself on muddy and soft ground. It gives you effective grip - in both dry and wet conditions.

Alpine Fit

The Exa Shell structure provides additional torsional stability: it gives the foot protective support and prevents it from slipping in the shoe. Your foot is also protected by our 3F system, for a precise fit and firm hold with flexibility. Climbing Lacing, our climbing shoe lacing, goes all the way to the toes - so you can tighten the shoe individually. The Wildfire Edge is equipped with the Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+), a special footbed that you can adapt to your foot shape thanks to the interchangeable sections.
