+ Expert opinion
At first I was a little skeptical, but after a few kilometers I was proven wrong. Despite its "chunky" design, the Peregrine 13 ST is hardly noticeable on the foot and is really fun on trails. It's a shame that it's not also available as a GTX version, because your feet do get wet in deeper puddles and on damp meadows. However, dirt stays out thanks to the tightly woven mesh.
The shoe offers a lot of safety and keeps you on track. It feels particularly comfortable in mud, on damp meadows and certainly also in snow (I haven't been able to test this yet). However, caution is advised on damp roots. This is where even the "sticky" sole reaches its limits.
As already mentioned, the Peregrine 13 ST is a shoe for rough terrain. I will certainly have a lot of fun with it in the fall and winter months. However, for normal dry forest trails, so-called forest highways, I would prefer a less robust shoe, such as the HOKA Speedgoat 5.
