ULTRA COMPETITION by SPONSER® is a highly complex hypotonic nutrient solution, specially developed for the requirements of ultra and long distance. Waxy corn starch and gluten-free starch hydrolysates from waxy corn and rice provide long-lasting energy supply and a low glycemic index. Acacia fiber consists of so-called arabinogalactan and supports the absorption of these nutrients and normal intestinal function through its water-, electrolyte- and glucose-binding properties. Waxy maize starch consists of branched-chain glucose molecules. Unlike single or double sugars, waxy maize starch has up to 1000 or more glucose molecules in a branched arrangement. Although the long-chain and relatively complex structure is rapidly emptied from the stomach, it is broken down into glucose by digestive enzymes with a delay. The insulin rise in a beverage consisting mainly of waxy maize starch is therefore significantly lower than in commercially available carbohydrate mixtures. The formula completely eliminates gluten, lactose and free fructose, as these nutrients are often poorly tolerated during prolonged exercise under stressful conditions and therefore have a performance-limiting effect.
