HOW THE IDEA TO DEVELOP HYPOALLERGENIC SHOES CAME ABOUT
In the early 2000s, a leading Italian orthopedic company operated around 20 stores across Italy. One day, a woman visited one of the stores to have a custom insole made. She told the orthopedic technician that she suffered from severe itching on the top of her foot due to potassium dichromate contact dermatitis and was unable to find a shoe that could relieve her discomfort.
The technician regretfully explained that the company did not offer dermatological solutions and was therefore unable to help her.
However, an employee who overheard the conversation recognized the issue and decided to investigate further. He spoke with the woman and began researching new materials that were free from harmful chemicals. After extensive development work and numerous tests, a hypoallergenic shoe was finally created. The woman had the opportunity to test the new shoe, and within days, her symptoms disappeared. After years of suffering, she was finally able to walk without discomfort again.
Despite the woman’s strong interest in more hypoallergenic shoes, the company remained focused on traditional products. This limited corporate strategy ultimately led to a shift into a different product sector and the development of innovative solutions for hypoallergenic footwear.
In 2019, the project to manufacture hypoallergenic shoes was revived. After years of research on materials and chemical compositions, along with extensive performance testing, the initiative was successfully completed in 2024.
The first patented hypoallergenic and certified barefoot shoes were produced and launched on the market. This innovation is a worldwide first, offering an effective and comfortable solution for many people suffering from allergies.
