“Nike has done a lot of things right with the Pegasus Trail 5 Gore-Tex: high-quality materials, well thought-out workmanship and a good mix of comfort and functionality. Smaller details such as an optimized upper could still be improved. Visually and functionally, however, the shoe is a hit: waterproof, easy to run in and stylish. Anyone looking for a reliable Gore-Tex trail running shoe should definitely take a closer look at the Pegasus Trail 5 GTX. The Pegasus Trail offers a generous toe box, which is particularly comfortable for wide feet. The classic lacing system allows the shoe to be adjusted easily. One small disadvantage is the shoe collar: the free-moving tongue needs to be positioned correctly to avoid pressure points. In addition, a tighter-fitting, higher shaft would make sense for a waterproof trail shoe. However, the heel hold is good and the upper material provides a stable feel. The raised midsole offers light support, so even overpronators could cope with the shoe. The 9.5 mm drop makes it ideal for runners who prefer a high level of cushioning.”
